Red ropes / series
Red ropes unify the cooperative work of Anzali fishermen, who tie them to their nets and take the nets to deeper parts of the sea on boats. The nets sink, while the ropes remain afloat. When enough fish is caught, the fishermen use the ropes to heave up the net, which is now quite heavy with all the water and fish. The red ropes represent not so much fishing as fishermen—people whose arduous job may look nice and fun from the outside.
